First and Foremost

My Name is Ted Collins. I am a retired firefighter and certified Hazardous Materials Specialist. I am also a pilot, certified in 1995, fixed wing single engine land. I have had training in multiengine as well as rotorary wing aircraft however I am not certificated in either those. I am a futurist and I am always pushing the envelope.

What About My Record?

I have worked with various public agencies to consulting on the practical application of sUAS. This has come in the form of presentations to organizational leadership, constituants as well as the rank and file and involved formal sUAS operational training as well as Part 107 test preparation. In addition, I have provided several formal presentations and adhoc speaking engagements to educate public service members on the use of drones. I took part in the marketing and education of the very first “Haz-Mat drone as a Trusted Partner with Autonomous Safety using the Matrice 210 platform. That platform included down range data distribution and video feed for use by command staff. We presented it at conferences such as Fire Shows West and the Hazardous Materials Continuing Challenge. I have also been a guest speaker and presenter at these shows since 2017. I was instrumental in program devlopment for three California Agencies (Solano County Sheriff’s Department, the Fairfield Fire Department and the Solano Coutny Hazardous Materials Type 1 response team) as well as taking part in sUAS training of the Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Pubic Safety Department. This included Fire, Police, SWAT, housing division, and public works. Not to say I invented drones by any stretch of the imagination, however I can attest and still have the video from my action camera, a Contour, taped to an RC helicopter flying inside and outside of a fire station before the first DJI. Before long I was filming our training with a dji Phantom 2 I was one of the early part 333 exemptions and and also ealry in obtaining a Part 107 commercial sUAS certification.

Consulting and Training

As part of my speaking engagements I have brought several more agencies the information they need to further their own programs. This instruction and information shared went from how to start a program including Part107 vs a C.O.A. to the future of drone tech. My goal is to get you onboard for this is truely just the beginning of greater things to come!
